Frequently Asked Questions
what are the recommended tyre pressures for my caravan?

Tyres and tyre pressures are always a difficult topic especially with the earlier caravans. For all Classic models we would advise you to discuss the matter with an expert in this area such as Vintage Tyre Supplies.

Remember though early classic vans where designed for Crossply tyres and so modern radials can cause fitting problems. Broadly speaking caravans running on Rubery Owen axles used Crossply tyres but caravans fitted with B&B axles introduced from 1977 through to 1980 (by 1980 all production was on B&B axles) ran on radial tyres. From 1980 onwards and the introduction of the Commander range, conventional radial tyres were fitted to all models.

Find a good tyre supplier therefore and ask their advice. Some information on sizes and pressures is given below, but remember this was the advice given at the time the caravans were built and changes in technology mean you do need expert advice.

It is possible, we understand, to fit modern radials to some rims designed for crossply tyres but often an inner tube needs to be fitted, so once again do seek expert advice, also please note crossply and radial tyres must not be combined on the same axle.

* Some customers have fitted these tyres to earlier 152 models but please not these tyres will not fit all 152 caravans as the wheel box clearance is very tight it depends on the individual caravan as to whether or not these will fit. The only way to find out is to try them.
